This is a documentation site for the Danish union catalogues:
bibliotek.dk (for the public) and DanBib (for professionals - requires a subscription).
It is a very abbrieviated English version of the Danish part of the site www.danbib.dk.
The intention is to link to DBC information about DanBib and bibliotek.dk in English where it is available.

bibliotek.dk - library.dk

bibliotek.dk is the OPAC to the union catalogue for all Danish libraries.
DBC maintains and develops bibliotek.dk.
KL - Local Government Denmark is in charge of bibliotek.dk. 

What does bibliotek.dk contain?

At bibliotek.dk you will find all items that have been published in Denmark and all items found in the holdings of the Danish public libraries. These items can be borrowed from the libraries. As of April 2021 the database contains about 14 million records, several of which represent holdings from more than one library. The database is updated daily.
Among other things, bibliotek.dk contains records of:

• items from the Danish public libraries and research libraries: books, periodicals, newspapers, music, sheet music, online materials, video tapes/DVDs, CD-ROMs, audio books etc.
• all books, periodicals and newspapers published in Denmark since 1970 (as well as many items published before this date)
• major articles published in newspapers and periodicals since 1940
• reviews published in newspapers and periodicals since 1940

DanBib, Netpunkt and Zgateway

DBC is in charge of the infrastructure for libraries in Denmark.
netpunkt.dk is the gateway to DanBib and other databases and services for the information professionals. Requires a subscription - contact Customer support (in Danish).
netpunkt.dk gives access to DanBib and other DBC-databases, Bibsys, WorldCat and ArticleFirst.
DanBib is the Danish union catalog with requesting and downloading facilities.

What does DanBib contain?

At DanBib you will find all items that have been published in Denmark and all items found in the stock of the Danish public libraries. As of September 2020, the database contains more than 14 million records. The database is updated daily.
Among other things, DanBib contains records of:

• items from the holdings of the Danish public libraries and research libraries: books, periodicals, newspapers, music, sheet music, video tapes/DVDs, CD-ROMs, audio books etc.
• all books, periodicals and newspapers published in Denmark since 1970 (as well as many items published before this date)
• major articles published in newspapers and periodicals since 1940
• reviews published in newspapers and periodicals since 1940
• records from Library of Congress
• records from the British National Bibliography -2008

DanBib

The Danish national bibliography and the Danish union catalogue (DanBib) is available via Z39.50 through the Zgateway. Present formats include danMARC2 and MARC21. The Zgateway uses IdPass authentication (user, group and password) and supports open authentication (user/group and password).
